A non-denominational "Memorial of Names" will be erected in the St. Louis Cemetery next spring. Anyone who has lost a child to miscarriage or abortion and who mourns that child is invited to give a first name to the baby and the name will be etched at no charge into the granite.

The Population Council issued a statement Monday reporting that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has been informed that a Canadian woman died during testing of the abortion pill. The study was testing mifepristone, also known as RU-486 or Mifeprex, and a second drug used in tandem (in violation of the manufacturer's instructions), misoprostol.

Judge imposes $80K fine on pro-life family

U.S. District Judge David Hurd in Utica, New York, imposed $80,000 in fines on Victoria and Joseph Kraeger and their two adult daughters, claiming that they violated the state's "buffer zone" law. John Broderick, the Kraegers' defense attorney, took exception to the fines, stating "A dollar would be too stiff if you're not doing anything wrong." Broderick said the Kraegers will appeal the decision.

Police withdraw harassment charge against pro-life man

Pennsylvania state police on Tuesday decided to withdraw a harassment charge against a pro-life missionary who recently carried a sign showing a headless aborted fetus outside an Allentown abortion center. "An individual has a First Amendment right to carry a sign and depict an image on a sign, and it may be viewed by some as being offensive," said Police Captain Theodore D. Kohuth.

"Pioneer" abortionist Kenneth Wright has been sued by the family of a woman who died from complications following an abortion, and by another woman who was hospitalized after an abortion. Wright is one of the nation's most "experienced" abortionists, with over 30 years' experience. He currently commits abortions in Central California, including Fresno and Bakersfield.

Attorneys for three women have filed a lawsuit in San Diego accusing Planned Parenthood of withholding information linking abortions to breast cancer. "I have experienced abortion, and I have been treated for a non-malignant tumor," said Agnes Bernardo, one of the plaintiffs. "I am very concerned about developing breast cancer."

Court upholds Mass. buffer zone

A federal appeals court has ruled a Massachusetts law creating protest-free buffer zones around abortion facilities is constitutional. Last November, U.S. District Judge Edward Harrington had ruled it was unconstitutional because it was a regulation of speech based on its content, a violation of the First Amendment.

The management of the Frederick Towne Mall responded angrily, "we find ourselves powerless to do anything about what I consider a public nuisance."
