Voice For Life: speaking up for those who cannot speak for themselves

Chapel services are finally permitted

August 8, 1996

For over 18 months, representatives of Voice For Life tried to persuade the Chaplain at the Lerdo Detention Facility to allow Chinese language chapel services. In May, the chapel services finally began. Pastor Timothy Leong, from the Bakersfield Chinese Baptist Church, leads the services. The ten remaining Chinese women, who are now all professing Christians, expressed joy that they have finally been able to participate in a worship service.
