WHAT’S
THE DEAL WITH RU-486?
Now that the FDA has
approved RU-486 for use in the United States, some CARE supporters have asked
whether CARE will be able to reach out to women who are considering a
drug-induced abortion. The answer is
“Yes.” According to recent news
reports, RU-486 initially will be available only through physicians who are
already performing surgical abortions.
So, when we do sidewalk counseling outside a building where surgical
abortions are provided, we will be available to counsel women who are
considering the abortion pill.
Even if RU-486 achieves a wider distribution, we can still
reach women outside physicians’ offices the same way we do at the killing
centers. But we will need more people
to cover more locations.
Please pray that every abortionist will be exposed so that we
can legally and peacefully take action to protect the women and children
endangered by this horrific drug. Also,
please pray that God will lift up workers to do sidewalk counseling outside
every place where abortion is being provided, whether by surgery or drugs. Please pray that these prolife workers will
be faithful, persevering in their work until abortion ends.
ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
As
Thanksgiving rapidly approaches, I am taking the opportunity meditate on the
many things for which I am grateful:
·
For the babies
that are alive because God used CARE to touch their moms’ hearts and help the
moms choose life.
·
For YOU, my CARE
supporters.
·
For my LIFE. I am grateful for each new day God gives me,
for every breath I take. And I am
grateful that God sent His Son to die for me, so that I can have eternal life.
·
For God’s Word. It is sharper than a two-edged sword, and it
is the truth. In it are found comfort,
wisdom, and salvation.
·
And His Word became flesh
and dwelt among us in the form of His Son Jesus the Messiah, who gave up
His own life so that we might have eternal life.
·
For my family, my job,
my ministry, my friends.
·
For God’s generous provision
of my material needs.
SUCCESS STORIES
Last month, we saw six moms
(or in one case it was the dad) change their mind and choose life. Here are some of the success stories.
Dad turns around: I saw
“Al” come out of the building carrying a lady’s purse. This is what I often see
men do after they drop off their wives for an abortion. So I approached Al and told him that I
observed him carrying a lady’s purse and that is what I see men do after they
drop off their wives for abortion, and I asked him whether this was his
situation. He said yes. I asked why. Al said that they just got married and they are not ready for a
baby yet. I told him that the baby is a
gift from God, and it may be the only child God ever gives him. I asked whether he could live with the
memory of aborting his only child. Then
I urged him to go back into the building and bring his wife out. So he did.
Wisdom of Solomon: The
Bible has wonderful stories that we can use when we counsel abortion-bound
moms. When a woman says that she would
rather have an abortion than place her baby with an adoptive family, I often
use the King Solomon story:
God gave
King Solomon great wisdom. He was the
wisest king who ever lived.
One day
two women asked King Solomon to settle their dispute. They were quarreling over a baby, and they both claimed to be the
baby’s mother. Solomon could not
immediately tell who was the real mother.
So he tested them by proposing that the baby be cut in half, and then he
would give them each half the baby. The
first mother agreed to this. But the
second mother began crying and pleading for the baby’s life. She told King Solomon to give the baby to
the other woman, but please spare his life.
King Solomon knew that the woman pleading for her son’s life was the
real mother, and he gave the baby to her.
After
telling this story, I explain to the abortion-bound mom that we see two kinds
of moms in this story. We see one mom
who will allow her child to be sliced to pieces rather than allow someone else
to raise him. The second kind of mom
seeks to protect her child and wants him to live even if it means that someone
else will raise him. Then I look the
mom square in the eyes, and I ask:
“Which kind of mom are you?”
I told
“Maureen” the King Solomon story, and I asked her: “Which kind of mother are you?”
And Maureen decided to be the kind of mom who protects her child.
