The following background information is
included for those who are interested in helping
to support this ministry:
Tim and
Terri Palmquist began Voice For Life
in 1992 as an effort to encourage Christians in
the Bakersfield (California) area to "speak
up for those who cannot speak for themselves"
(Proverbs 31:8). Tim Palmquist served as the host
of the Voice For Life radio program, which was
broadcast on two local Christian radio stations
(Monday through Friday, six minutes per day).
The primary focus of the Voice For Life radio
program was encouraging Christians to become
involved in local efforts to peacefully save
preborn babies; however, when the Palmquists
became aware of the Chinese women who were brought
to the Lerdo Detention Facility near Bakersfield
in 1994, they began leading various efforts to
encourage action on behalf of these refugees. As
a result, Voice For Life expanded to an
international outreach, through the news releases
and updates on the Chinese refugees which were
sent to concerned people and media outlets.
After the passage of legislation which helped
victims of forced abortion to be granted asylum,
the Chinese refugees were eventually freed.
In 1997, various difficulties caused
Tim Palmquist to discontinue the six-minute daily
version of the Voice For Life radio program.
Tim hopes to be able to revive
the program again by the end of the year 2000, using a shortened format (one
to two minutes), providing every day the story of
a baby which was saved from abortion. This program
will be provided to radio stations nationwide by
satellite and the internet, encouraging more
Christians to get involved in saving babies from
abortion. For more information about the plans for
the new broadcast click here.
